Academic Information

The basic curriculum used is A Beka Book Publications. It is a Christ-centered curriculum that provides a Biblical perspective on the various subject areas that are taught. It is built upon the firm foundation of Scriptural truth and written by dedicated and talented Christian scholars who are well grounded in the practical aspects of classroom teaching.

Chapel & Devotions

All grades have prayer and Bible lessons in their own classrooms. All grades have weekly chapel services which are scheduled on Wednesdays at 8:00 A.M. Chapels may be led by teachers, students, and guest speakers. Parents are encouraged to attend when possible. A chapel schedule will be provided in the monthly newsletter.

Bible

All students in grades 2-8 must have a New International Version Bible for Bible class.

The Bible curriculum for kindergarten is Positive Action for Christ.
The Bible curriculum used for first grade is from A Beka Book.
The Bible curriculum used for grades 2-8 is Positive Action for Christ.
GFA’s Bible program is designed to give children a strong doctrinal and factual background in God’s Word practically applied to life. All subjects are integrated with Biblical Truth.

Science

Science is the study of God’s World (see Psalm 33).

We use the Bob Jones University curriculum for grades K-6 and Apologia curriculum for grades 7-8. It is the aim of the Science Curriculum to develop within each child a meaningful reverence for the almighty power and infinite wisdom of God.

This helps the student understand the order and precision of the physical world. In the Science Curriculum, the student presupposes the Scriptural teaching that God created the natural world. The world operates in His continual providence, and He reveals Himself in this natural world.(see Psalm 19:1).

Our Science Fair is held in the spring of the school year. Each student in grades 2-8 is required to participate in a Science Project. Grades K & 1 may participate in a class project for the Science Fair.

History

This course of study is designed to help the students become geographically aware, historically literate, and politically astute. The A Beka Book curriculum is used for kindergarten through 6th grade. The 7th and 8th grade students use Bob Jones University Press curriculum for this subject matter along with other applicable material.

Math

A Beka Book Math is utilized for Grades K-8. They are classic books with up-to-date appeal. Besides training students in the basic skills that they will need all their lives, the A Beka Book traditional mathematics teach students to believe in the absolutes of the universe, to work diligently to get right answers, and to see the facts of mathematics as part of the truth and order that God has built into the real universe.

Language Arts

The Language Arts Curriculum encompasses reading and literature programs, writing skills, grammar studies, as well as phonics, spelling and language usage. Library skills are taught in all grades. GFA uses the A Beka Book and Write Shop curriculum to implement this program.
